The programme
A thinking framework before the flaps
Kaufman begins with how to read a wound: its size, location, surrounding tissue reservoirs and the functional structures nearby. That reasoning becomes a planning method readers can carry to defects the book never illustrates.
Nasal repair & cartilage support
The nose receives detailed attention, from bilobed transpositions and local advancement to cartilage grafting that preserves contour and airway. Pearls explain how to keep a reconstructed nose from looking patched.
Cheek, forehead & brow closures
Rotation flaps, single and paired, plus advancement designs for forehead and eyebrow show how to borrow lax tissue without distorting landmarks. Rhombic transpositions illustrate the geometry behind efficient cheek closures.
Lips, ears & eyelids in the facial reconstruction flaps book
Melolabial transposition, lip advancement and island pedicle designs handle the perioral region, while helical rim advancement solves common ear defects. Eyelid chapters respect the functional demands of the lids alongside appearance.
Pearls that simplify complex repairs
Each repair carries the author’s practical tips and key points, intended to make apparently complicated flaps approachable. The emphasis is consistently on combining aesthetic camouflage with preserved function.
Who it’s for
- Mohs and dermatologic surgeons plan closures after tumour excision with a consistent method
- Facial plastic surgeons refine local flap selection region by region
- Plastic surgery trainees learn flap geometry through clear stepwise illustrations
- Experienced reconstructive surgeons pick up pearls for more aesthetic repairs
The consult
Does the PDF include the procedure videos?
No — the printed edition is accompanied by more than 25 new videos, but this product is the book PDF only; the video set is sold separately.
Is it suitable for beginners?
Yes — it is written for novices as well as experienced surgeons, moving from simple closures to more complex multi-stage designs.
What kind of file is it?
It is the original publisher PDF of the second edition rather than a scan, so the photographs and drawings keep their quality.
Can a book teach flap surgery on its own?
It builds planning and design skills, but performing reconstruction safely still requires supervised surgical training.
When will I receive the file?
The PDF downloads straight after payment and you may keep it permanently.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Derma Academy provides the course files only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included.
