Review the whole specialty, from flap physiology to paediatric clefts
The plastic surgery review course assembles 33 faculty lecturers, among them Peter C. Neligan, Jason Pozner and Arin K. Greene, to cover wound healing and flaps, cosmetic face and body surgery, neurotoxin, breast aesthetics and reconstruction, hand and nerve surgery, trunk and limb coverage, head and neck repair, burns and skin cancer, and craniofacial care.

The programme
Foundations of reconstruction
Opening lectures revisit flap design, skin grafting strategy, the biology of wound repair and the immunology behind transplant surgery. These principles underpin every reconstructive decision discussed in later modules.
Cosmetic topics in the plastic surgery review course
A five-hour aesthetic block spans blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, rhytidectomy, brow lifting, hair transplantation, laser resurfacing, liposuction and genital aesthetic surgery. A separate session from Shaun C. Desai is devoted to botulinum toxin.
Breast surgery, cosmetic and reconstructive
Seven lecturers address augmentation, implant-based and autologous reconstruction, gynecomastia, reduction and contouring after massive weight loss. The module links aesthetic principles with oncologic reconstruction choices.
Hand, upper limb and peripheral nerve
Teaching covers nerve trauma and compressive neuropathies, brachial plexus surgery, hand and wrist fractures, tendon repair and replantation. Algorithms help structure decisions in emergency and elective upper-extremity care.
Trunk, lower limb, skin and burns
Coverage of torso and perineal defects, foot and ankle injuries, diabetic ulcers and pressure sores sits alongside melanoma and skin cancer management. Burn reconstruction and radiation, electrical, chemical and cold injuries complete the picture.
Head, neck and paediatric surgery
Facial trauma, cancer reconstruction, ear repair and rebuilding of lips, tongue and mandible lead into children’s surgery. The final module covers craniofacial syndromes, cleft lip and palate, congenital hand differences and vascular anomalies.
Who it’s for
- Plastic surgery residents consolidate the full specialty syllabus in one lecture series
- Recent graduates entering the field gain a structured overview before subspecialising
- Practising surgeons preparing for board examinations refresh areas outside their daily practice
The consult
Is this lecture-based or operative video?
It is primarily recorded lectures with clinical algorithms and case-based discussion. Do not expect full-length operations; it complements rather than replaces supervised clinical training.
Is anaesthesia for plastic surgery covered?
The overview mentions current anaesthesia strategies, but no anaesthesia lecture appears in the nine module listings, so treat that topic as uncertain.
Are all 39 lessons individually named?
Most modules list their lectures by title. The aesthetic surgery module is described as one block of topics, so its exact lesson split is not shown.
How much aesthetic content is there compared with reconstruction?
Roughly six hours are dedicated to cosmetic surgery and neurotoxin, with breast aesthetics adding more. The majority of the 32 hours is reconstructive, hand and paediatric teaching.
When does my access begin?
The moment your payment is processed — and the lectures stay accessible for as long as you need them.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Derma Academy provides the course files only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included.
