Stay current on general medicine outside your own specialty
The internal medicine update for specialists condenses the 2025 Harvard programme into focused faculty talks on ischaemic heart disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, lipids, diabetes, obesity, stroke, dementia, renal and liver disease, anticoagulation, COPD, asthma, common cancers, thyroid, menopause, osteoporosis, allergy and outpatient infections, with accompanying PDFs.

The programme
Cardiovascular & vascular medicine
Talks cover 2025 treatment choices in chronic ischaemic heart disease, heart failure for subspecialists, atrial fibrillation, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia. Anticoagulants and venous thromboembolism are handled in a dedicated session, giving non-cardiologists a compact cardiovascular refresh.
Metabolic, endocrine & renal care in the internal medicine update for specialists
David M. Nathan’s diabetes update sits alongside sessions on obesity, osteoporosis and fracture reduction, common thyroid problems and menopause management. A renal medicine review completes the picture of chronic conditions that specialists regularly meet in their own patients.
Neurology, sleep & the older adult
Stroke prevention, headache management and a 2025 update on memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease anchor the neurology content. Sleep medicine and principles of geriatric care address problems that cut across almost every specialty.
Lungs, gut, liver & infection
Asthma and COPD sessions pair with diseases of the foregut and infectious and metabolic liver disease. A case-based hematology session and current treatment advice for common outpatient infections round out the organ-system review.
Oncology & genetic testing
Separate lectures address colon, lung, breast and prostate cancer from diagnosis to current therapy. A genetic testing talk explains when and how results influence management for patients seen outside oncology.
Prevention, behaviour & health systems
Tobacco treatment, opioid use disorder, disease prevention and allergy updates sit beside eye problems in primary care and upper-limb musculoskeletal pain. Closing talks consider disparities in specialty care and how climate change affects healthcare delivery.
Who it’s for
- Surgeons and anaesthesiologists refresh medical management of the comorbid patients they treat
- Hospitalists review current guidance across cardiology, endocrinology, neurology and oncology
- Psychiatrists and pathologists keep a working knowledge of general medicine advances
- Subspecialists recognise interactions between their prescriptions and other teams’ treatments
The consult
Does every topic in the programme overview get its own talk?
Not quite — areas such as lower back pain, cancer screening as a standalone theme and basic orthopaedic examination do not appear as separate lessons in the five-day list, and two named faculty have no lesson attributed to them. The main session’s contents are summarised rather than itemised.
Is this aimed at primary care doctors?
It is designed for specialists who need a concise view of general medicine beyond their field. Primary care physicians may find it useful, but the depth is pitched as an update rather than a full board review.
Are slides or handouts provided?
Yes — PDF materials accompany the video lessons, which helps when reviewing guideline-heavy sessions later.
Can I apply the recommendations directly to my patients?
The talks summarise evidence and guidance current in 2025. Treatment decisions should still follow your local guidelines and the clinical judgement of the responsible team.
When can I begin, and for how long?
The entire programme is unlocked once you complete payment, and you can return to it whenever you like with no end date.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Derma Academy provides the course files only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included.
